The English Department at Farleigh aims to give children a thorough grounding in all aspects of literacy, and instil in them a real and lasting appreciation of literature.
"Excellent provision exists in many areas especially in English, art and design technology. In particular the school emphasises speaking skills and these are seen in the pupils who, as a body, are highly articulate. Boys and girls in Year 6, for example, spoke animatedly about, and their enjoyment of, certain lessons, notably mathematics and English." ISI Inspection Report, 2009
