History

The History Department offers courses covering a wide expanse of time from the Egyptians to the Second World War.
Year 3 enjoy Greek Day

We do not simply impart knowledge of the past but teach a wide variety of skills that are not subject specific. We also aim to foster interest in the past, develop an appreciation of the diversity of different cultures, and explore the experiences of individuals who were very different from ourselves.

"Teaching strongly promotes intellectual development as well as physical and creative effort.  It particularly encourages pupils to sustain their efforts, and the rich variety of lesson activites ensures that pupils are stimulated and motivated. In a Year 4 history class, for example, pupils applied themselves well when evaluating the design features of Roman weapons and when creating a poster with text and images on this topic."
