On 11th May 2007, Bishop Crispian Hollis, the Bishop of Portsmouth, confirmed 34 of our pupils, who were
joined by over 400 guests. The pupils had undergone a thorough programme
of preparation and were very excited as the big day arrived. They were
reminded by Bishop Crispian of the significance of the choice of a Saint's
name and the fact that they were members of a world wide community in which they have new responsibilities.
It
was good to hear that the Bishop had links with Turkana in Kenya, our chosen school
charity, and that he had recently visited the region with a friend.
The collection at Mass raised £1,100 for the Turkana Project, in addition to the £3000 that the pupils had already raised for 'Let the Children Live', a charity which helps the street children of Colombia, earlier in the term, through a
cake sale, sponsored silence and home clothes day.
