Years 7 and 8 organised a charity day in aid of 'Let the Children Live', a charity that works with street children in Colombia to provide them with a better way of life. The fund raising was the pupils' initiative following an inspiring talk given at
the end of the Spring Term by Pauline Allen, a representative of the
charity.
Wearing home clothes and devouring more than 400 home made cakes, the pupils certainly enjoyed their positive contribution towards the fund raising. The teachers in the upper school had the benefit of a quiet afternoon as the Year 7 and 8 pupils undertook a sponsored silence - a task which some found harder than others.
Fund raising is a serious business for some...
... but not all, Oscar
More than £1000 is expected to be raised and this figure will be added
to the £300 raised at the recent performances of 'Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory'. The children hope to be able to hand
over a cheque personally to Father Peter Walters, who founded the
charity and who hopes to visit Farleigh soon.
