One of the Year 8 girls in action
Some great tennis bodes well for the rest of the term. In the first round of the Girls' NestlĂ© National Schools Championship, the U13 girls beat St Swithun's by 5 sets to 1.

Sarah Johnson, the Captain and playing at No 1, had the toughest opponent by far but put up a good fight before losing by 6 games to 2. Iona Moodie had some lovely rallies and showed some real determination to win her game, as did Abigail Rigg, whilst Harriet Farquharson completely dominated her opponent and won 6 games to 0.

The U13 boys joined the girls in exciting games against Stroud, which resulted in a 6 sets each draw. This was a real achievement and the first time we have drawn the match against Stroud in this age group.

Bertie Cornett, William Long, Wilf Marriott and Hugh Watts represented the boys, and Polly Haggas, Sarah Johnson, Alexa Scott Dalgleish and Hermione Shegog represented the girls.

With time to spare at the end of this match, mixed doubles was the order of the day. Hugo Leader joined the team and comfortably won his game with Hermione Shegog. The mixed doubles was a huge success with the players requesting more of the same.
