Salisbury Rugby Football Club's Under 11s team, captained by Year 6 Farleigh pupil,
Rory Jennings, entertained the Twickenham crowd on Bank Holiday Monday with
some scintillating rugby at the finals of the National Mini Rugby Cup.
The best 20 teams in the country competed for a place in the semi finals and
final, which took place at Twickenham Stadium on 28th May, just before the England
Saxons match against Scotland A. Salisbury had
reached the Twickenham stage after winning the National
Mini Rugby Festival held at Nottingham in April.
In the semi-final, Salisbury beat 2006 finalist, Sandal, 10-0, with style and confidence. The
final against York, who won the Cup last year, was a much tougher
match, but Salisbury delivered a stunning and disciplined
team performance. It resulted in a 5-5 draw, with Rory scoring the try, and the sharing of the title of U11
National Mini Rugby Champions. Former England player, Gareth Chillcot,
presented the Cup to Rory to finish off what has been a very
successful season for the U11 team.
