Our Catering Manager's talk on The Good, the Bad and The Ugly of the culinary world made a big impression on 200 children.

Will gets cooking
Beginning with The Good, Andy Wright chose eight volunteers to help him create two dishes - a prawn cocktail starter and Eton Mess pudding, which all the children were delighted to taste. This, he said, was the fun part of the industry; creating and tasting delicious meals.

Moving onto The Bad, he showed images of dirty and messy kitchens, and explained the importance of good food hygiene. He practises what he preaches. Farleigh's food and hygiene is consistently rated "outstanding" (Ofsted Boarding Inspection 2007) and "excellent" (Test Valley County Council 2007), the first time the latter inspector had ever awarded an "excellent".

Finally, The Ugly. Through powerful imagery, he highlighted the plight of starving children in Africa and encouraged the children to appreciate all that they have: "Enjoy food and water. Please don't waste it."
