Rugby Sevens Tournaments

For the first time in the 16 year history of the tournament, Farleigh has won the Pinewood Sevens two years in a row.

It was our first Sevens Tournament of the season and, after starting off slowly and losing the first game to the hosts, 7-12, the team did not look back. They beat both St Oliver's and Beachborough, 24-0, and in the quarter-finals played almost faultless rugby to
beat Dean Close Prep, 33-5. Progressing to the semi-finals, they met Old Buckenham Hall and played their best rugby to win 40-0, followed by the final against Swanbourne, where they started and finished well to emerge 35-7 victors.

A stiffer task awaited them at Bryanston, but the boys would not give up. In the group stages, they beat Boundary Oak, 45-0, and Warminster, 35-0. They lost to Truro, 5-12, before beating Clayesmore, 26-0, and The Downs, 21-0. Coming 1st in their group, they went on to play a strong Sandroyd side, but managed to win comfortably, 33-7. They progressed into the semi-finals for the first time since entering this tournament five years ago. They came up against a very talented Millfield side, but played out of their skins to win the game, 21-12.

In the final they met King's Hall, Taunton, which proved to be a game too far and they sadly lost, 5-26. Nevertheless, it was another outstanding day for our boys and as a result, Farleigh will be seeded at the National Sevens as one of the top ten sides in the country.

Congratulations to Rory Jennings, Will Stuart, Jack Bradby, George Hornung, Alex Armytage, Chris Robinson, Alex McGrigor, Jamie Atkinson, Henry Braithwaite, George Henry, Lockie Cunningham and Robin Bernon.
