| Rory's double bass stands out in the Big Band |
The St Cecilia concert was a very special evening for the many talented musicians who took part, and they were rewarded with a receptive and appreciative audience.
There was huge variety with soloists and ensemble pieces ranging from the Senior Choir's fun 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' and the saxophonists' (plus Hannah's clarinet) 'Get Back' and James Bond theme music, to the Chapel Choir's beautiful 'Ave Verum (Mozart), Pie Jesu (Fauré) and Ave Maria (Lindley), and the Orchestra's 'Christmas Suite' and 'Oom-Pah-Pah'. The Big Band's Muppet Show theme tune, 'Embraceable You' and 'Louie Louie' finale deservedly warranted an encore.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to perform in a formal, yet unpressured, environment. Well done to them all.
