Farleigh wins Pinewood Sevens

Congratulations to the ten boys who represented Farleigh in the first tournament of the rugby season and, after only six days of rugby, won the Pinewood Sevens.

In the group stages, Farleigh beat St Hugh's (35-7), Prior Park (5-0) and Christchurch Cathedral School (41-0). In the quarter-finals they met a good defensive St Andrew's, but won through (24-0) and proceeded to the semi-finals, where they came up against the previously unbeaten Abingdon Prep. This was a tight game, but again the team came out on top (10-7).

The final against Old Buckenham Hall was tough with Farleigh conceding the first try. However, they came back with great strength and a breakaway try by the captain, Oscar Page, levelled the score by half-time. Again, they conceded a try early in the second half, but were swift to respond and finished the tournament with a 21-14 victory.
