Nine Year 5 members of Farleigh's Tuesday gymnastics club put themselves forward for the IAPS Novice Gymnastics Competition held at Queenswood School in Hertfordshire. Seven schools and 72 girls participated in the competition with 28 girls in the U10 category. Each girl performed a one minute set floor sequence and two vaults. Despite the very high level of talent and the daunting and impressive leotards of the other schools, Farleigh came away successful. Anouska Royle came 1st in the whole U10 competition, clinching the gold medal, and Louisa Bradby was awarded a bronze medal, coming 9th out of the 28 competitors. Also competing were Eliza Carr, Willow Cunningham, Georgie Falk, Annie Haswell, Georgina Hughes, Georgina James and Anna Jennings.
Mrs Penny said, "All of the girls did so well and can be very proud of themselves. This was a fantastic new experience and the girls rose to the challenge magnificently. Nervous, but immaculately turned out, they were superb ambassadors for the school. They behaved beautifully, but I was most proud of the support they gave one another throughout the day."
