Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts
to put them off their stride, over 100 children had a fantastic and busy weekend. They
were not put off by the cold weather and, although some events were moved indoors,
they really enjoyed the variety of activities. Old time favourites such as
‘pass the parcel’, ‘musical chairs’ and other silly tag games were greeted with
reminiscent smiles and laughter by the older children and with delight by the
younger children. On Saturday evening, the senior boys settled in to watching Britain’s Got
Talent or I Robot, a film with Will Smith. The senior girls enjoyed some ‘me time’ with
Mrs Whithear and Miss Stewart, developing their own home made fruit face masks,
painting their nails and spending time chatting and enjoying each others’
company.
An array of activities after Mass on Sunday included baking fairy cakes for tea, swimming, games in the sports hall, playing on Fortress Farleigh, face painting and arts and crafts. In the afternoon, some chose to go to the cricket nets or play tennis, others joined in with the kite flying, rocket
making, games in the woods and organised games of rounders and cricket. The
highlight of the afternoon for all the senior children was, of course, revising
and working for an hour before supper!
