The Spring Term sees the launch of the LTA Mini Tennis Awards Scheme at Farleigh.
Tennis at Farleigh is played throughout the year come rain or shine, and this exciting new
venture from the LTA will allow children from 3–10 years of age to work towards
a recognised award, receiving a certificate and badge for their success.
Farleigh is starting with the Mini Tennis
Red (5–8 years), Orange
(8–9 years) and Green (10 years) with the hope of developing it further in
the future for the younger children (Tots: 3–5 years).
What is LTA Mini Tennis?
- Children between 3 and 10 years old can now get stuck into
the world of tennis with an exciting programme from the LTA, sponsored by
Highland Spring.
- With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing
balls, LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport with all
the fun and energy of the real thing.
- There are four stages of LTA Mini Tennis: Tots, Red, Orange and
Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored
approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early
age.
- There is also the LTA Mini Tennis Rally Awards Scheme,
designed to help mini players learn in stages and take part in exciting exercises
with regular rewards, which encourage them to develop their tennis skills at a
pace that suits them.
Tennis at Farleigh is not all about finding the next
Nadal; the emphasis is on everyone having the opportunity to learn and
enjoy the game. The standard is high for school level and it is very rewarding to see
our pupils represent their senior schools in the top teams when they
move on.
