Viva Espana!
Fifteen members of the Chapel Choir were lucky enough to be whisked off to
Madrid at the end of the Spring Term. Staying for five nights, it was a
wonderful opportunity to see the home of so many of Farleigh's Spanish pupils.
The highlight of the trip for many was the Reunion for former (and current)
pupils from Spain. It was a wonderful gathering of pupils spanning over 20
years and they were superbly entertained by Farleigh's choristers.
Other choral performances included a concert in northern Madrid and the
singing of Mass on Palm Sunday at the Jesuit College. So appreciative of their
singing was the large congregation that some members were moved to tears. The
choir was given a lengthy standing ovation at the end of the service. The trip
wasn't just about music and reunions however. There was ample time to relax in
the Plaza Mayor, visit some of Madrid's most beautiful sites including the
Palacio Real, Parque del Buen Retiro and Del Prado gallery, as well as take an
excursion to the former historic capital Toledo.
