Year 6 enjoyed a history workshop in the school theatre as they were
introduced to the Second World War. They were given
a brief outline of the main causes and events of the war, which will be
studied in detail in their lessons this term.
The children watched DVD clips, designed
propaganda posters and role-played being an evacuee. They also had the
opportunity to try out genuine WWII respirators, helmets and uniforms, whilst
handling equipment and other artefacts - the morse code machine proved
very popular.
This was an entertaining and vibrant introduction to this period in history and the children embark upon their studies with enthusiasm and excitement.
