Attention! Farleigh visits the King's Royal Hussars

The second of our short films is now ready to view. All 430 children were invited to spend the day with the King's Royal Hussars at Aliwal Barracks, Tidworth, as part of the World Ward I centenary commemorations. Children were marched between stands manned by soldiers and had the chance to get in and clamber on a brilliant selection of vehicles including the Challenger 2, Warrior and Scimitor tanks. The Camouflage and Concealment stand was a big hit as groups of 'camouflaged' pupils learned all about how not to be seen. Chocolate coins were found with mine detection equipment, a helmet mounted night vision system worn and 2.2 air rifles carefully handled. The assault course proved extremely popular with the children being ordered around the gym, in particularly good humour! An exhausted school headed home after a day learning a little of what life is like to be a soldier.
