Batman and the Merlin Have Landed

The playing fields turned into an impromptu landing site yesterday, as we welcomed members of 28 Squadron in their Merlin helicopter. Having travelled the 54 miles from RAF Benson in Oxfordshire (in all of 15 minutes!) the helicopter was spotted by an eager crowd of Farleigh pupils and staff, who watched in awe as it circled the school before descending onto the athletics track in front of the main school building. Children from Kindergarten and Pre-Prep were the first to board the aircraft whilst a queue of excited Year 3s waited, quite patiently, for their turn. Once inside, they strapped themselves in and got ready for take-off. Many thanks to current parent, Wing Commander Diggle, for transforming a regular Tuesday lunchtime into one not to be forgotten. Indeed, even Batman dropped in to witness the action!
