Feast Day Boarders' Dinner Night

On Thursday, 1st October, the Feast of Saint Theresa, our patron saint, was celebrated in considerable style at the Boarders' Dinner Night.

The dining room was awash with candlelight and roses and at the top of the dining room, the statue of St.Theresa looked on in appreciation. The boarders were dressed in all their finery and many of the staff joined the celebrations, looking not too bad either! After grace and a prayer to St Theresa the festivities commenced. The atmosphere was truly joyful.

The food was first class and befitting of such an occasion. The starter was a wonderful hand made goat's cheese tartlet on a bed of light green salad leaves. Then came magnificent portions of tray baked salmon fillets adorned with a prawn and white wine sauce. An array of fine vegetables and crushed new potatoes accompanied the fine feast and the evening was rounded off with a brandy basket of autumnal fruits and cream. All dishes were served with grace and panache by a super team of Gap Assistants, boarding and teaching staff. The conversation flowed unabated throughout and, as ever, the children were an absolute pleasure to be with. It is on such evenings that one realises what a pleasure and an honour it is to be involved with such a school as Farleigh.

Three cheers rang out at the end for Mr Schlender and the catering team for all their hard work in producing such a feast, and the last thing I heard as I left the school was the sound of gentle laughter and happy chatter as the boys and girls headed for their dorms.
