Glorious Grandparents' Days

It is always a pleasure to welcome grandparents to Farleigh, and over 300 parents and grandparents attended the Pre-Prep Grandparents' Afternoon on Friday, and over 400 attended the Prep School House Matches and Grandparents’ Day on Saturday.

In the Sports Hall on Friday, grandparents enjoyed tea and canapés before watching the Pre-Prep's musical ‘Wild West Show'. Of course, every child from Kindergarten to Year 2 took part, as the stage was filled with cowboys, cowgirls and an extraordinary amount of hobby horses! After all the excitement, grandparents were whisked off to the Pre-Prep to visit their grandchild’s classroom and admire their work.

On Saturday, House Cricket was a great success with the Year 3 boys and girls playing together and enjoying it. Playing with an ‘Incrediball’, there were six overs per match with a 'power over' (double the runs scored in that over) declared by the batting team before the start of an over, a lovely variation which the children soon took advantage of. The Year 7 and 8 girls had a lovely afternoon playing House Tennis; there were some really competitive matches enjoyed by everyone who took part.

A fabulous afternoon tea was served in front of the house under a tree bedecked with bunting and at tables laid with white table cloths and decorated with flowers. It was a perfect summer afternoon at Farleigh, made all the more special with three generations enjoying it all together.
