Shakespeare in Colour

We were delighted to welcome Christopher Lloyd, author of 'What on Earth?' books, to Farleigh. Year 2 and Year 6 were treated to a glorious introduction to Shakespeare's plays with a colourful and inspirational talk based on his most recent publication, 'Wallbook of Shakespeare'.

Christopher's university gown, resplendent with brightly coloured pockets, demonstrated how Shakespeare used colours to reflect emotions. The dagger in the red pocket reflecting rage, the confetti in the yellow pocket depicting happiness and the green, one-eyed, squidgy monster in the green pocket – jealousy!  The children took part in abridged versions of Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing, complete with costumes and props. A highly successful, educational and entertaining talk, which left a great impression on the children.
