We've gone Cricket Crazy!

Traditionally, cricket at Farleigh has largely fallen into the boys’ domain. Last year, the girls were also introduced to the sport and this year we have stepped up another gear as all girls are playing cricket alongside rounders and tennis.

We have been ‘bowled over’ by the enthusiasm shown by both the boys and girls for this summer term sport. Yesterday, the girls had a fabulous start to their cricket season, with all  eight teams winning their first matches against Highfield and the boys also had a successful afternoon with the majority of teams also victorious. Yesterday’s match results also included a win for the U13 girls’ tennis team and a narrow loss by the U12s. The U13 rounders team lost by two rounders in their match against Highfield, in which they had a shared team.

Today, Year 2 pupils, as well a large number in the prep school, have been practising their cricket skills with the Hampshire Cricket Roadshow. Farleigh was delighted to welcome specialist coaches who, complete with cricket inspired bouncy castle, were able to give everyone some valuable advice and practise.

Also, yesterday, the Year 4 girls had a fanstastic time at Heathfield School, Ascot, learning the core skills of lacrosse and putting them into practise during some fun drills. There were reports of a terrific match tea too! Thank you, Heathfield.
