Wednesday Sports Round-up

A beautiful, unseasonably warm, autumnal day led to a fabulous afternoon of sport against teams from Forres Sandle Manor, Pilgrims’, Prince’s Mead and West Hill Park.

The girls’ hockey teams played some very competitive matches against West Hill Park and FSM. The U13As, narrowly losing to WHP, 2-3, in what was an evenly matched game. The U12As played in a triangular, away, against FSM and a touring school from Jersey; losing the first game and winning the second. The U11As lost to their opponents, West Hill Park, in the final of their tournament, but were delighted with a 4-1 win in a regular match against them. In netball, all the U10 teams won against Prince’s Mead, despite having to adapt to the new 10ft tall netball post. The U11Bs and U11Cs are improving all the time as shown by their recent results. All the girls worked really hard, played with confidence and most of all, enjoyed themselves.

The boys too had a great afternoon football. Playing against Pilgrims' at home, the U12As had a narrow defeat in what was a tense match; the U12Bs won convincingly, 7-0, and the U12Cs also won their match, 5-1; the U11Bs won and whilst the U11Cs lost, they displayed great teamwork and fighting spirit. Excellent performances throughout the U10s elicited a win for the As, a narrow loss for the B team and two wins for the Cs and Ds. Out of 12 matches played there were six wins, five losses and one draw - a successful, competitive and sunny afternoon was had by all.
