Buzzards win Sports Day

Farleigh enjoys an impressive track record in athletics and this can be felt throughout the school, where children of all abilities delight in doing their best for their Pack and in supporting their Pack team mates.

There have been some excellent performances from the children in the athletics teams, but all the children in the school have been commended for the immense amount of effort they have put into their PE lessons to improve their athletic ability, which culminated in a fantastic sports day in which every child played their part and can take pride in what they achieved.

Buzzards won the day; Kestrels came 2nd; Merlins, 3rd, and Eagles, 4th, though the latter remain the leaders in the overall Pack Competition.

In addition, a number of school athletics records have been broken:

  • Daniel Shaughnessy, Year 8, for the 200m - 26.6s
  • Cyprian Owen Edmunds, Year 7, for the 70m Hurdles - 10.97s
  • Alice Lindsay, Year 6, for the 70m Hurdles - 11.51s
  • Xenia Petley, Year 6, for the Javelin - 25.07m, the furthest any girl at Farleigh has ever thrown
  • Will Stuart, Year 6, for the Javelin - 34.57m
  • Will Stuart for the Discus - 27.69m
  • Will Stuart again for the Shot Putt - 8.27m
