What a Season
Congratulation to the boys who won the Moulsford and Caldicott Sevens Tournaments. Jack Bradby, Rory Chetwynd-Talbot, Harry
Eastwood, Louis Forsyth, Louis Govett, George Hornung, Max Hunter, Rory Jennings, Cyprian Owen-Edmunds, Oscar Page (Captain), Freddie Richards and Will Stuart well deserve their successful season.
At Moulsford, Farleigh performed exceptionally well, coming out on top despite a tough group. The results were:
v Summer Fields 31-7 Win
v Oratory Prep School 10-0 Win
v Cothill 28-0 Win
Having won our group, we played Winchester House in the semi-final. It was a tough game, but our resilient team won 26-14. The final beckoned against the hosts, Moulsford. After a good start Farleigh found themselves 7-0 up. Then Moulsford surged back to score two unconverted tries making the score 7-10. However, our boys would not be beaten and, with one minute to go, Louis Govett bulldozed over the line to score and win the game 12-10. What a superb result and the first time since 1994 that we have won this tournament.
This was our first outing to the Caldicott Sevens and the boys had high expectations of doing well. The competition however was tough and although they lost their first pool match to the home team, 5-14, they went on to win against Winchester House (5-0) and St Mary's Hall (17-7). They met a strong Shrewsbury House in the quarter-finals, but won 7-0. A semi-final against The Dragon came next in which they played some of the most exciting and impressive sevens of the tournament to secure a convincing 33-7 win. In the final against the Oratory Prep School our boys played what can only be described as 'perfect' sevens, resulting in a 38-0 victory.
Ben Bentley, Director of Sport, said, "This was an exceptional display and I am very proud of all the boys."
