Farleigh’s well-equipped theatre, with its tiered seating and professional lighting, sound and staging, is home to three major school productions that are performed each year. The productions of 2006 included The Pirates of Penzance (Year 8), Macbeth (Year 7) and This Man Called Jesus (Years 3 and 4). Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Years 5 and 6) was staged in March 2007 and The Importance of Being Earnest (Year 7) took place in June. West Side Story was performed by Year 8 in December 2007. The Canterbury Tales was performed by Year 7 in March 2008. In June 2008 Years 3 and 4 performed The Wizard of Oz. Year 8 performed Return to the Forbidden Planet in December 2008 and Years 5 and 6 put on a stunning performance of the musical, Oliver! in June 2009. In December 2009, the current Year 8 put on an excellent Guys and Dolls, and Years 3 and 4 are preparing for their performance in the Summer Term of Jungle Book.
Informal weekly form assemblies, in which every child takes part, offer additional acting opportunities. As well as performing on stage, your child can organise set and prop design, undertake costume making and musical accompaniment, and manage sound and lighting.
