First Fixtures 2021!

Football
We were delighted, yesterday, to attend and host so many fixtures. All boys from Year 4 to Year 8 were involved in matches, tournaments and training sessions at Highfield School, Stroud, Thorngrove and here at Farleigh.

We hosted seven tournaments with visiting teams from Prince’s Mead, St Francis, Stroud, Thorngrove and Yateley Manor. The emphasis for all the boys was on enjoyment and development. Nevertheless, it was lovely to see that our teams were very competitive across all age categories, which bodes well for the season ahead.

Hockey
The girls had a brilliant start to the season. The 1st and 2nd hockey teams travelled to Highfield for a tournament. The 1sts won all their group matches, beat Highfield 3-0 in the semi-final and then played Edgeborough in the final. The score was 1-1 so it went down to penalty shuffles, where we narrowly lost 3-2.

The 2nds had a good day getting through the group stage and finishing 3rd overall. The U11As had a fun day out at Westbourne House. A nice introduction to tournament hockey and great experience for the future. The U11B, C and D teams played Stroud and Thorngrove U11A, B and C with lots of wins and close matches. The U10 A and B netball team got off to a flying start with comfortable wins over Thorngrove.

It is really great to see so many children playing competitive sport again. Congratulations, all!
