Fixtures Make a Welcome Return

The children were fizzing with excitement, the cricket pitches were ready for action and Farleigh looked spectacular yesterday as 22 teams from Year 5 to Year 8 took to the pitches, 11 at home and 11 away at Highfield School, for our first competitive fixtures in over a year.

With Covid precautions in place, the children were so happy to be playing in matches again and they did not disappoint. There were several very competitive matches with wins or losses of under 10 runs. The U13B boys game was a very tight game with Farleigh winning by two runs! The boys recovered well having been 0 - 2! The U10A girls went down to the last ball with Farleigh winning by three runs.

Both the U13A boys’ and girls' teams had wins. The boys’ match was a good close game with Highfield all out on the last ball. Fred Hosier top scored with 46 and our bowling attack was very effective with Ralph Boldt, Ollie Morgan and Rory Magnay. Farleigh won by 28 runs. The girls won their match comfortably. Anna Landale opened the batting well and Chloe Grace was strong with her bowling. The girls took some good catches and we know that ‘catches win matches’!

Well done to all our cricketers and thank you to the grounds team who prepared the pitches so beautifully.
