Odd Socks Get Everyone Talking

Farleigh embraced Odd Socks Day with their own crazy collection of footwear, to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week. The children are super-aware of how easy it is to make someone feel small or left-out, even by accident. They and the teachers work hard across the school, from Pre-Prep who really absorb the power of their 'Golden Rules', right through to the top-of-the-school (boarders in Year 8), to make everyone feel heard, understood and included.

Mr English, Pastoral Lead, explains:

‘Year 5 really enjoyed Odd Socks Day. It got everyone talking. We discussed how bullying is often done in small ways; little comments that are hurtful but maybe not big enough to make you feel you want to tell a grown up. We decided it is really important to speak up to that person and tell them that what they are saying is hurtful and doesn’t make us feel good. And then, if they keep doing it we tell a grown up. Fortunately, we all agreed, at Farleigh 99.9% of the time everyone is lovely to each other!’.
