RUGBY SEVENS FESTIVAL

The Farleigh Rugby Sevens Festival proved to be a fantastic celebration of school sport, bringing together 24 teams across the Under 12 and Under 13 age groups for a memorable day of competition and camaraderie. Blessed with beautiful weather, the tournament created the perfect setting for an outstanding showcase of rugby.

Throughout the day, the standard of play was exceptionally high, with all teams demonstrating skill, determination, and a strong understanding of the sevens format. Matches were played in great spirit, with players embracing both the competitive nature of the tournament and the core values of rugby, including respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Farleigh’s Under 12 and Under 13 teams performed superbly throughout the tournament, playing an exciting and skilful brand of sevens rugby. Their effort, teamwork, and commitment were evident in every match, and they represented the school with pride both on and off the pitch.

A particularly special feature of the day was the inclusion of two 'Barbarians' teams, made up of players from across the participating schools. These teams embodied the true spirit of rugby, bringing together pupils who had not previously played alongside one another and allowing them to form new friendships while enjoying the game.

We were also incredibly fortunate to welcome two Olympians to Farleigh: Harry Glover and Ruaridh McConnochie. Their presence added a real sense of occasion to the event, as they spent time coaching the players, sharing their expertise, and inspiring the next generation. They were also generous with their time, signing autographs and taking photos, creating lasting memories for all involved.

Overall, the Farleigh Rugby Sevens was a tremendous success, a day filled with high-quality rugby, positive energy, and a genuine celebration of the game. It was a fitting reminder of what makes rugby so special, and an occasion that will be remembered fondly by players, coaches, and spectators alike.
