The boarders are back and, no, our senior boy boarders have not really had a makeover, but their Common Room (St Michael’s) has… Over the summer, it was redecorated and a fitted kitchen installed, complete with microwave oven and dishwasher, much to the boys’ delight, of course.

The arrival of the dishwasher plus the new combination microwave gives the Common Room a 'home from home' feel and enables the boys to be more self-sufficient, to make themselves popcorn, toast and even (for the more ambitious) cake!

“The boys who were boarding last year immediately noticed the changes and new additions”, said Mr Whithear, Senior Boys’ House Parent. “It is nice to give the boys the opportunity to look after themselves a bit more as they become young adults. This week, we have also used the space to learn to use the calendar on their iPads to help them get more organised. Personal organisation and independent learning are a lot easier when you can use technology to help run your life!”

We look forward to seeing how our newly independent boarders fare... and we know where to go for cake!
