Standing up for Kindness

This week we have been marking Anti-Bullying Week, which is so important to our ethos. We have promoted this under the words of the great Dominican and one of the finest minds of the Church, St Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274); ‘To love is to will the good of another’.

The pupils have been discussing issues raised, both in assemblies and form time. They have outwardly expressed their support to the Hands Up to Bullying campaign through decorating and displaying their ‘support hands’ in their form windows, each showing five different people they can turn to when in need of support. The hands themselves all carry the words of St Thomas Aquinas, reflecting that as a community which has God’s love as its foundation, there is simply no place for bullying here.

On Saturday, Year 3 pupils are coming into school wearing odd socks as a culmination of their PSHE sessions on embracing individuality and difference. And linking this all together, the pupils have also been covering the Sacrament of Reconciliation in RS, having small class-based services in the Chapel to further strengthen our collective resolve to be a reflective, loving community.
