Due to the very nature of learning, all pupils may require support at some time in their school life, whether it's educational, social or emotional.
Learning Support (LS) at Farleigh is provided by an experienced, fully qualified team who are up to date with current thinking. LS is available for children from Pre-Prep to Year 8 who have an identified learning need. It also offers support to teachers in delivering the curriculum to children on the LS register ensuring that all children have their individual needs meet, whether it be a learning difficulty, those identified as 'gifted or able' or those with English as an Additional Language.
The LS Department works in partnership with teachers and parents to provide support in the areas that are necessary for effective learning; eg reading, spelling, numeracy, memory, motor skills, speech and language, learning skills and organisation. Following referral, LS will assess pupils to identify any weaknesses, provide strategies for use in the classroom and provide an appropriate level of intervention where required; short bursts or ongoing intervention delivered individually or in groups.
Pastoral care is fully integrated throughout and the teaching and learning support provision is excellent - an experienced team of seven staff provides specific intervention to all children who have an identified learning need."
