A Moving Confirmation Day

It was a privilege to welcome Bishop Philip Egan, the Bishop of Portsmouth, to Farleigh to confirm 34 of our pupils. They had been preparing for several weeks to develop an understanding of the significance of this wonderful Sacrament.

As they renewed their Baptismal vows and were anointed with the Oil of Chrism, they later reflected that it was an important moment in their journey of faith. Bishop Philip reminded the children that they were part of a very special team, which drew on many talents and gifts to keep it alive, and their Confirmation ignited the gifts they had received at Baptism, to enable them to play an increasingly active role in the team of the Catholic Church.

After a wonderful service, with lovely readings and beautiful singing by the Chapel choir, the candidates and their families gathered for refreshments on the Headmaster’s Lawn and took the opportunity to chat with the Bishop, who posed for photos with them before everyone departed for half-term.
