An accomplished Scholars' Recital

It is a great privilege to watch the development of all of Farleigh’s enthusiastic musicians, from their first public appearances in the wonderfully supportive atmosphere of our regular informal concerts, to memorable performances at the more formal musical events each year. January 2020 is the third anniversary of occupancy of the Music School and there is no doubt that since its doors opened, every day has been jam packed with musical activity and every inch of space utilised!

As the potential Year 8 music scholars begin preparations for their music auditions, and start collating the hard evidence of their journeys, the music exams passed and concerts played in, it is becoming clear just how far they have come since their first beginnings in the old music block, now but a distant memory.

A small audience witnessed the real evidence of the scholars’ musical achievements at their recital last Tuesday, an opportunity for the children to present their audition programmes to their families, their teachers and members of Farleigh staff. Dressed smartly for the occasion, and giving clear and confident introductions to their pieces, the talent and musicianship of each performer was clear to all. Poppy (piano and violin), Harry (saxophone and voice), Oliver (voice and drum kit), Xanthe (trombone, flute and piano), Aless (violin and piano) and Rosie (French horn and voice) conquered their nerves to demonstrate their mastery of their instruments with great style and in a wonderfully varied programme at this very special evening.

We wish them the very best of luck in their forthcoming auditions and extend our gratitude to Mr Reeves for all he has done to ensure the children’s enjoyment of music at Farleigh, and to their teachers for their inspiration and infinite patience in preparing them and supporting them every step of the way.
