Back to School (for the majority)

Have we ever seen children so excited to be back in school? Even though they are split into their colour coded class bubbles and can't play with friends in other bubbles, they are loving being back and are so appreciative!

What's the best thing about the Leavers' Programme, we asked one Year 8? The answer: coming back! Year 8 are not here all day, every day, and much of their Leavers' Programme continues to be delivered remotely, but they are having a fabulous time with huge variety in the programme, from excellent guest speakers (current parents and Farleigh alumni) and Dragons' Den (the final three teams have been selected and will have to do their very best to win over our panel - four successful Farleigh parents who won't give them an easy ride!) to fabulous online events hosted by party supremos, Sharky & George, and their own Sports Day.

Apart from the Year 6 boarders who were able to return earlier with the rest of their year group, and Kindergarten, Reception and Year 1, it is a great pity that we cannot accommodate more of our boarders safely, and some have not been able to return. However, everyone is doing their very best to include them online, and Zoom lessons continue.

For Years 3-6, it is almost normal school, split as they are into their sub-15 bubbles. Year 7 are working from home, or on Zoom on site if they have siblings in school, and coming in for the afternoons to play sport - again in their colour-coded bubbles. Mr Gough says it has been "fantastic to see all the children playing cricket this week! Years 3 and 4 invented their own cricket games and Year 7 played very well in their 'circle' cricket matches." Mr Wright has also been running Sports Day events with smaller groups of pupils, with Years 7 and 8 having individual whole year group events. This bit of normality at the end of an extraordinary summer term (one we will never forget!) has been so appreciated by the whole school community.
