On Monday 18th November, over 100 Farleigh boarders enjoyed a Spanish-themed boarders’ dinner night, complete with music, camaraderie, and of course, a tasty three-course meal. The children looked smart, as they always do on these evenings, and lots of fun was had by all.
We began with a mixed tapas starter, including prawn and chorizo skewers, Spanish omelettes, patatas bravos, aioli and olives, before tucking in to a Spanish chicken breast with a paella Manchego crisp, or a stuffed pepper paella with Manchego for our vegetarians, with stem broccoli. The stunning pudding was a Basque cheesecake with a blueberry compote, raspberry sorbet and honeycomb crumb. Yum!
This Spanish extravaganza wouldn’t have been complete without an impromptu performance from our Spanish and Mexican boarders – whose company we so enjoy and who bring much to the Farleigh community - as they sang ‘happy birthday’ in Spanish to Miss Gasparotto, on her birthday, and the assembled throng as part of the festivities.
This special evening followed a super exeat weekend for some of our overseas boarders. Whilst most of our boarders went home to their families, these boys had an indulging weekend based at school, but out and about experiencing a range of activities that the local area has to offer. They had a great time choosing their own food in the supermarket, going to the cinema to see Red One and battling it out in laser tag to test their combat abilities.
In a new development this year, exeat weekends are open to all day and boarding pupils from Years 3-8. Read more about our exeat weekends, wraparound care and flexi-boarding here.
