Bold work from the Art Department

Our Year 8 art scholars last week took part in a day-long printing workshop led by Jenny Gunning of Ironbridge Fine Arts & Framing. They received excellent tuition in the processes of etching onto metal plates, collographing using plaster and creating dry point prints. They created printing plates inspired by their tonal sketches and then ran off prints using the press. They thoroughly enjoyed learning these new skills.

Year 6 have produced some lovely work this term, using drawing mixed media, including chalk pastels, on mid-tone paper. Harry C used bold, adventurous colours as undertones for his striking donkey; and Margo S showed express mark making to allow the under colours to come through in her excellent piece.

Year 4 have been working on their technique. They began by drawing birds using circles before building up to beautiful bird watercolours.
