Common Entrance Congratulations

Many congratulations to our 60-strong Year 8, the majority of whom received their Common Entrance results on Friday and are set for pastures new at 18 excellent senior schools.

Farleigh pupils have always gone on to a wide range of leading senior schools and the 2023 cohort are no different. Eight pupils are going to Canford, six to Dauntsey’s, six to Marlborough, six boys to Sherborne and six girls to St Mary's Calne; four boys to Radley, four girls to Sherborne Girls and four to St Mary’s Ascot; three pupils to Ampleforth; and two each to Bryanston, Cheltenham, Downside and Stowe.

The final five are off to Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Eton, Pangbourne, Tudor Hall, and one is returning to Spain. Special congratulations to Percy, who is one of the top 29 Eton entrants and whose papers earned him a starred pass; an excellent achievement. In addition, 27 of these pupils gained 32 scholarships/awards between them in every area of school life. Well done, one and all.

It is wonderful to witness the shrieks of delight and surprise, the hugs, the tears and the words of gratitude to the teachers who have taught and guided them for up to 10 years at Farleigh; followed by the celebrations with parents and siblings afterwards. Everyone had a blast, marking the occasion with lively (competitive!) parent and pupil cricket and tennis, enjoyed by all!
