Letters from Farleigh Lift Spirits

We have so much to be grateful for, and our incredible Farleigh community has once again pulled it out of the letter sack (so to speak). Thank you so very much to the more than 300 pupils, staff and parents who have written once again - personally and personalised - to the residents of five local care homes: Andover, Harrier Grange, Lion Oak Court, Warner Court and Winton House.

As Fr Simon highlighted in his assembly before half-term, the previous cards and letters lit up the residents at Harrier Grange, Lion Oak Court and Winton House. They have had a terribly lonely time for the past year, so the bundles of messages and the parcels of goodies sent by Farleigh over Christmas had a huge impact on lifting the spirits of hundreds of elderly residents, who have had even less freedom than us and, in most cases, have been able to receive no visitors at all since the start of the virus last March.

Along with bunches of daffodils, Mrs Everson has made the deliveries of your latest cards and letters, which we know have been joyfully received as we have already started receiving messages of thanks. We feel we must pass on the remarks of the Family Liaison contact at Winton House, who writes, "What joy you have all brought to our residents. We have all been touched by the thoughtfulness of the children and staff at Farleigh and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. One of the residents has treasured her letter so much that she actually puts it under her pillow at night'.

Well done, Mr Napthine, for getting us organised, for what is a fabulous initiative for both the giver and the receiver!
