Pre-Prep’s Busy Week

As we write, Year 2 are joyfully embarking on their first proper trip (in fact, any year group’s proper trip) out of school since mid-March! They have gone to the Seascape Museum in Southampton for which they could not have chosen a more beautiful day!

Term has started off with wonderful weather and an equally wonderful cohort of children, all of whom are settling into their classes well. We have covered much in a packed first two weeks, including an investigation into the history of toys in Year 1, a celebration of ‘Roald Dahl Day’, some very impressive mathematics, first steps into archaeology and some energetic visits to the Pre-Prep woods to collect leaves and investigate making dens for Everywhere Bear and Everywhere Bunny.

Last week we elected our House Captains for the autumn term and Mrs Wilton is delighted to announce that Willow and Peter are captains for St David’s; Paddy and Appoline are captains for St Andrew’s; Henry and Charlotte are captains for St Patrick’s, and Louis and Finlay are captains for St George’s.

On Wednesday, Year 4 form taker Miss Dunn met with them to chair their first Student Council meeting. Just as in the Prep, the Pre-Prep House Captains are going to represent and be the voice of Pre-Prep, by becoming involved with suggesting ideas which can benefit everyday school life. House Captains are in place for the term and are democratically elected by the members of each House.

In Pre-Prep, Ms Goulden oversees the House Captains. Part of their role is to support Mrs Wilton in assemblies by helping with the music and the computer. They also encourage everyone in their Houses to work hard and follow the Golden Rules to earn House Points. Miss Dunn enthuses, "I look forward to working with the House Captains throughout the year and seeing what we can achieve."

We would like to congratulate all our children in Pre-Prep on the very positive way they have responded to their new routines, how hard they are trying with their learning and how kind they are being to one another.
