The Farleigh Rugby Sevens Tournament 2025 was a memorable and exciting event, showcasing the immense talent and spirit of young rugby players on our circuit. Held at Farleigh on a mild spring day, the tournament saw nine schools come together, with both Under 13 and Under 12 teams participating. Additionally, there was a Barbarians team made up of boys from each of the attending schools, further adding to the excitement and camaraderie of the event.
The competition was fiercely contested, but throughout the day, the matches were played with outstanding sportsmanship. The games were refereed by senior schools' Directors of Sport and Directors of Rugby, ensuring that the standard of officiating matched the high level of rugby on display. This provided all the boys with an opportunity to be seen by the various senior schools and show what they could do.
The level of rugby played was simply fantastic. From fast-paced attacks to skilful defending, the players demonstrated the true essence of sevens rugby—speed, agility and teamwork. The Under 13 competition was particularly thrilling, with Farleigh making it all the way to the final. The final match, against Aldro, was a heart-stopper, with Farleigh unfortunately losing to a last-minute try. Despite the narrow defeat, the Under 13 team’s performance was a testament to their hard work, skill and determination throughout the tournament.
Equally impressive were the Under 12 players, who showed remarkable talent and promise for the future of Farleigh rugby. Congratulations to Aldro who won the U12 competition, and to Ludgrove who were runners up. Both the Under 12 and Under 13 teams displayed exceptional teamwork and skill, clearly demonstrating the strong foundations of rugby at Farleigh. The tournament not only highlighted the school's commitment to developing young talent but also showed the vibrant rugby culture that exists at the school.
The boys represented their school with great pride and sportsmanship, and their performances on the field highlighted the strength of Farleigh rugby. With such promising young talent, the future of rugby at Farleigh looks incredibly bright.
Thank you Aldro, Boundary Oak, Cothill House, Highfield, Lambrook, Ludgrove, Summer Fields and Twyford for joining us and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.
