Senior Boarding Makeover

Senior Boys' Boarding has had a makeover! And the boys who have benefited are of course delighted.

Having modernised the girls’ washrooms in recent years, we completely redesigned and reconstructed the Year 7 boys’ dorms this summer. These boarders now have four brand new, bright, modern dormitories, each with three bunk beds.

The small, old WCs and shower rooms were also removed and replaced with a single contemporary space. This was done on both sides of senior boys’ boarding, so we now have two sparkling, new washrooms for both Years 7 and 8 boys. The last part of the project was to create a new staff flat alongside the Year 7 boys’ dorms, so that they can readily access an additional member of staff.

In a new initiative, we are also providing bedding for flexi-boarders, from Year 3 to Year 7. This means that parents no longer need to bring in and take home a child's bedding after each stay and the dorms are looking very cosy.

It has been a wonderful start to the autumn term for all Farleigh pupils, including our 100 full and weekly boarders. "To see the children skipping into school with huge smiles on their faces, excited to be in school with their friends and learning with their teachers has been a delight", says Mr Wood, Deputy Head (Organisation & Pastoral Oversight). "Our new pupils all seem settled and credit to their shepherds, who have been doing such a good job of showing them the ropes!"
