Wind-Swept but Wonderful - IAPS National Athletics Finals

A wind-swept, rainy day did not augur well for athletics, yet our Farleigh athletes did us proud at the IAPS National Finals in Nuneaton on Monday. The greatest medal haul to date, more school records broken and 30 athletes from the school, representing the Wessex region. This was a fantastic occasion and one where pupils, parents and the athletics coaching staff were so incredibly proud of the nine medals and all of the pupils’ achievements. Well done, Farleigh!

Special congratulations to those who medalled on the national stage:

Miranda: U14 Girls Javelin Gold, beating the school record – and her own record - again!
Henry: U14 Boys 100m Silver and Triple Jump Silver
Florrie: U14 Girls Hurdles Silver
Xander: U13 Boys Discus Bronze

All five relay teams qualified for the final with four out of five medalling:

U13 girls  2nd
U12 boys 2nd
U14 boys  3rd
U12 girls 3rd
U14 girls 4th

A number of children didn’t medal, but had a fantastic experience and loved the day. “I am so proud of all our athletes and what they have achieved this year and I wish them all the very best in the future, both at Farleigh and at the Year 8s going on to their senior schools”, said Mr Wright, Director of Sports.
