Years 7 & 8 Hit the Slopes

At the start of the Easter holiday, on Saturday 25th March, a group of 65 Years 7 and 8 pupils and staff, set off for Serre Chevalier in the Haute-Alpes, France, for the annual Farleigh Ski Trip.

The early start and the delayed flight did not dampen the excitement of the group - we were ready to hit the slopes! Right at the start of the week, we had a dumping of snow which was just what we needed, followed by two glorious bluebird days. On Wednesday, we even had a BBQ on the slopes in glorious sunshine!

Each day involved us getting up, eating a good breakfast, and taking to the slopes in our seven ski groups, each with its own expert ski instructor from the local British-French ski school, Ski Connections. The children worked hard to improve their skiing technique, which for some included neatening up their parallel turns, skiing down the red and black slopes, and even working on 'jumps' at the snow park. The evenings involved us participating in a range of fun activities: sledging, bowling, shopping in the local area, listening to a talk about avalanches from ski patrol, and some memorable karaoke before bed.

We had a fantastic week and cannot wait to go again next year!
